Well, this one was roundabout 4 - 5 hours and another one for the final touches and color changes.
But it depends on the theme and the style. Some of my images are done quicker and some of them are a never ending story.
The thing is just to find a good balance between loose and detailed areas. Guess thats the trick

well - in case I do just freelancing its a bit hard to tell.
I guess yes. But it depends on whats the illustration for. Is it just for conception, I presume that you'll not have that much time.
Is the illustration for marketing or promotional purposes, then I believe you have enough time to finish a highly detailed in the time you need.
