Harbor FINAL by donmalo Harbor FINAL by donmalo
I really like it when commissioned project running as smooth as this one did. Absolutely great! And I'd like to say thanks to Max for this great and smooth project. It was really a pleasure! So thanks again! :)

Hope you'll enjoy it as I did.

awesome. so what do they ask you, like "I want a boat city landscape with a cool sky?" haha just curious. Most commissions I get are portraits so its not quite as in depth.

Thanks!
Well - this was basically a scene that the client had in mind and one of my images fits that idea pretty well.
So he was asking for a harbor scene with some good color contrast and some highlights (city lights). The rest was sketching and pushing things further:)

Well, I'm also doing landscapes for a (browser-based) game. They give me short descriptions of the view and that's it. I'm sometimes given a reference picture so that I get a better idea of what they want it to be, but that's sort of it. Different people do things differently though.

oh I see, that is icool. Love hearing other peoples experiences! I would love to just be given a description of something and then I get to bring it to life, i've done that a bit with my military art, getting to hear their descriptions of war and then trying to paint a picture of it, quite interesting. anyway now Im rambling, thanks for the reply!
