Well - to be honest - I don't call me a master compared to the some of the really talented peeps up here. And it didn't take to much time. I started digital painting in summer 2011. Just keep doing it!
Yeah - sadly the lasso is not that much used. You've have to get used to it, but later on its a pretty effective tool. Especially it is combined with new layer, etc… I wrote a tutorial a while ago in which I go a bit deeper into that technique… If you want - here it is [link]
Yeah this is great. I am still young when it comes to digital painting. How do you go about giving objects texture? Like in this one you have here. Do you bring in photos and overlay them and then use layer masks and stuff. What kind of brush did you use most here?
Hey there Thanks! Well I use a mixture of photos and structured brushes. And for sure - customized brushes If i used photos I play a lot with layer fx and do a lot of paint over - just to get a more painterly feeling. I use a lot of the lasso tool and the eraser as well.
I did a couple of weeks ago a screen cap. Its mostly how I paint rocks, etc… Heres the link (just in case you're interested) [link]
