How large (pixel dims) do you start your canvas?

Love this BTW. Fav'd

Thanks for the fav:)

Well - I start always HiRes. I'm not really scaling a thumbnail up or increase the size during the painting.
Most of my images are 5500x2750 px. Enough for prints and agood size for scaling down:)

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply! What about DPI? 300? Or more? What's too? I am a little confused about it, does dpi change the pixel size? It means dots per square inch....but how can it be separate from dimensions i dont get it....Sorry if I'm asking too many technical questions... I'm a big fan though!

You're most welcome!!
The resolution is the big thing you have to take care about. The DPI only lets you know how many dots per inch you'll have…
exsample:
5500x2750 / 72 dpi -> 194x97 cm
5500x2750 / 300 dpi -> 46,5x24 cm
And it depends on how big your image should be at the end. If you like to have 90x48 cm image as a end resolution - you could work with a 300 dpi image in the actual size or just go for a 11000x5500 / 72 dpi image.
72 dpi images allows you to work proper with your brushes 'cause they are based on a screen resolution - which is 72 dpi.

No problem at all.

And thanks again!
