What's with the brightness? It seems a dailight scene, why is it so dark? Maybe you should calibrate your monitor ...

It's more of an overcast than daylight

Look at a photograph of an overcast scenery. There is a lot of refelected ambient light on an overcast day, and there aren't any deep shadows. On the other hand look at a photo of a sunny day, with stark contrast and hard shadow, open that in photoshop and tune down the brightness. It will look exactly like this image. Also look at the clouds. That's how clouds look that are hit from the side by bright sunlight. An overcast sky does not have the same contast, but is more uniformly light grey. For certain this image has been painted as sunlit and then darkened.

It is one of the reason I love his paintings - the contrast to how it "should be". Very cool effect, this!

Amazing picture.

Did you intentionally have a big mountain behind the foreground guy's staff? It seems like a missed opportunity to have nice depth and paralaxing. But I am way below your level so I don't know. Maybe it would contrast too much and distract from the focal point? I'd love to know your thoughts about that decision.

Again, amazing picture :)

Agreed, the picture is amazing, but the staff and the mountain make for a bit of an uncomfortable tangent...Just a minor thing though
